Here is where we will post some notes on certain cases we have worked on. Public cases or those that we have permission to report on will be here in full, others may be edited to keep the identities and locations of the clients private.
Churchill Mansion Spring 2007
N.B.P.I. attended Churchill Mansion in April 2007. We had heard about Churchill Mansion through a contact of one of our investiagtors. There are many claims of paranormal activity involving Churchill Mansion, from disappearing objects, the feeling of being watched, or being touched. Hearing footsteps in the upstairs area in the middle of the night. One guest reported that while she was in the tub in one of the guest rooms, steam had formed on the mirror. In the steam the letters "AFC" appeared on the mirror. These also happen to be the initials of Aaron Flint Churchil, who was the origional owner of the mansion. Aaron Churchill is thought to be one of the spirits that haunt the mansion today. Another spirit thought to be haunting the mansion is Aaron's Niece, Lottie.
Upon arrival at Churchill Mansion, we were greeted by Bob Benson. Bob Bensen and his wife Gertrude are the current owners of Churchill Mansion and two of the nicest people you could ever meet. Bob brought us in and showed us around. We began setting up equipment throughout the Mansion. We ran 8 infrared night vision CCTV cameras covering the majority of the mansion. We tried to setup a wireless audio feed upstairs for continous audio recording. We encountered too much interference and wireless audio could not be used. We setup a motion activated camera in the widows walk. Investigator Craig was in the process of setting up the motion activated camera and was being assisted by investigator David. Craig was standing at the top of the stairs in the widows walk and David was standing on the stairs taking setup notes, when David stated that something just patted him on the head. Craig turned around and observed David's ball hat and it was crumpled down. David was very startled by this. During setup different male members of the team tried to conduct work in room #1 which was Lottie's room. Each male member all had the same feeling in that room. They each felt like they could not breath. It was very heavy in that room and it felt like they were in a "bearhug". The female members of the team were not affected in this way. During the setup Investigator Craig was in room 7, which was origionally Aaron Churchills den, setting up a camera. Investigator Scott came in and proceeded to enter the washroom located in the far corner of the room. Scott closed the bathroom door and latched it. Craig was still setting the camera up and had his back to the washroom door when he heard it unlatch and begin opening up. Craig turned around to find that Scott had not opened the door because he was still in the middle of his personal business and was frantically trying to close the door for privacy reasons. Although Craig found it extremely funny, Scott did not see the humor in it and after several experiments with the door, they could not get the door to open up on its own again. Throughout the evening into the night, numerous vigals were held by investigators throughout the mansion conducting EVP sessions, taking photographs, and using hand held video cameras. Many small localized temperature fluctuations were recorded on the main floor in the parlour area. Some spots would register between 3-5 deg cooler and then quickly rise up to slightly 1 -2 higher than the base reading. Strange EMF readings were recorded in room #6. The meter had a base reading during setup of .2 mg during the investigation we would get readings spike from .2 to 2.5, 3.1, 0 etc. The readings would then return to the .2 .3 range. We were un able to track a constant source of the EMF. At around 3:30am Investigator Craig and Investigator Amy were monitoring the cameras, when they distinctly heard footsteps walking upstairs. Craig went to investigate and no one was there. All other investigators were fast asleep. It should also be noted that the entire mansion was occupied by N.B.P.I. members only. There were no public guests.
After speaking to Bob and Gertrude in the morning and filling them in on the nights activities, Bob confirmed that the claims that we were making in fact happen all the time. After all the evidence was checked out, we came up with numerous "ORB" photos but we wont count those due to the controversy over orbs. Nothing was captured on the motion activated camera, or the cctv system. During our EVP session, some type of brittish radio broadcast was quietly picked up in the background. We figured that it must have been a stray radio frequency as it was non stop in every EVP session recorded. It was also learned that for the first time ever, the memorial for the victims of the TITANIC was being held in Halifax this year on that very weekend. There were numerous Brittish news teams broadcasting live from all over Novia Scotia that weekend.
Our trip was fantastic. Churchill Mansion is a must for anyone remotely interested in the paranormal field. A follow up trip will be coming soon. Oh I almost forgot.
